The Rats in the Walls

I found the reading The Rats in the Walls by H.P. Lovecraft to be very interesting as it dealt with the supernatural and I consider it too have been supernatural because for me, the reader, there was no question of the existence of the underground city, and there is no question of it because it is something that other characters in the story, aside from the narrator, witnessed.

The story had a few elements that would categorize it into the gothic. For example setting which was the creepy house in which the narrator lived, the “ancestors curse” which can be the legends and myths that people often spoke about the de la Poer family, the odd squirming noises the rats made during the night, the omen of the cats howling at night, and finally the narrator going insane by the end of the story.
