Philip K. Dick
I always used to think and say that I wasn’t really a fan of sci fi.
This last week made me realize that I don’t think I ever knew exactly what sci
fi was. I always thought it was more about fantasy worlds full of aliens and
strange creatures from the future. However, after reading a selection of Philip
K. Dick stories, I recognize that sci fi actually takes many forms and some of
my favorite movies such as The Adjustment Bureau and Minority Report are not
only sci fi, but are adaptations of his stories. The idea of blurring reality,
especially by playing with conceptions of time travel between past, present,
and future, presents a confusing yet fascinating look into distinguishing the
real from the imagined. The way these stories draw readers in and makes them question their own reality is a great testament to the ingenuity of the author.
