Robots
In the clips we saw in class, there was an underlying theme of automatons and their replacement of the human race as a common fear among people. I think that because they are so humanoid, but due to small details that make them not fully human, we are scared that they might one day overcome us. They are subservient and are treated as machines because they do not have any emotions, but can be made stronger and more calculated than any living creature. In the clip shown in class from the movie "I, Robot", the robot is treated by Will Smith as an object and he denies that it has any human emotions, though it does display that it has feelings. But if automatons have the capacity to feel, then what makes them different from us? And how would they feel toward the human race, who treated them as slaves?
