The Word for World is Forest, Athsheans and the
humans are portrayed in very different ways. Throughout the novel I felt the
human were somehow portrayed as primitive creatures compared to the Athsheans.
This is due to the fact of the dream state or dream cycle. The Athsheans are
able to function in the everyday world with their sleep cycle and able to
recollect their dream and take advantage of their dreams were trying to say.
Unlike the Athsheans, humans try to repress their dreams and neglect their subconscious
linking it to poison. This dual identity for human is very ironic in which
humans are superior to the Athsheans, but the Athsheans seem more advance. This
further reminds me of history class and how sometimes the United States has
this dual identity that certain people get to see.
